Come bury your child
into earth’s dark maw.
As grief and loss
tear flesh from bone,
and society tucks up
safely in their homes,
and the furore dies and you are left alone,
I want you to know,
I will do nothing.

I will not speak.
I will not resist.
I’ll defend your right to carry arms,
so long as my family are left unharmed,
I’ll leave it to Congress to be informed,
I will do nothing.
